"Von Lössen und Lehmen - der Glücks-Baatz der Loam-Barone: Munich in Zieglstoana fever from the perspective of a geologist"

The "Munich loam tongue" - a term that is hardly known today - has decisively shaped the face of our city district. In his lecture, Prof. Dr. Richard Höfling, a qualified geologist, explains the formation of different types of clay and their significance for brick production.

In particular, the pre-alpine loess loam, from glacial deposits of the Ice Age, formed the post-glacial loam areas to the right of the Isar from Ramersdorf to Ismaning. Originally used for agriculture, it brought farmers and innkeepers prosperity and the title of "Loam Barons". The lecture sheds light on the geological history of this special loam.
