Weber und Naumann | Vocal Concert Dresden im Konzert zum Ewigkeitssonntag

Carl Maria von Weber's music will light up Dresden's Kreuzkirche on Eternity Sunday on November 22, 2026 at 5:00 pm. The year 2026 will be marked by two major anniversaries: we will commemorate the 200th anniversary of Carl Maria von Weber's death and celebrate the 285th birthday of Johann Gottlieb Naumann. Under the direction of Peter Kopp, the Vocal Concert Dresden and the Dresdner Instrumental-Concert will perform a program full of emotional depth on period instruments.

At the center is Weber's Mass in G major (Missa sancta), which captivates with its "cheerful friendliness and warm radiance". Far from sombre austerity, Weber created a trusting, almost childlike and jubilant dialog with the deity in 1819. This is flanked by Naumann's monumental "Our Father" (text: Klopstock). As a pioneering court conductor, Naumann created a monument to German classical music, which Weber himself conducted in Dresden in 1817.
