A Nourishing Practice by Jeanne Schmidt - art mediator

Sweaty, smelly, cold or sexy and sensual? What do you think of when you think of your feet? When was the last time you really noticed them without judging them?

The workshop accompanying the exhibition Feeding Foot invites you to explore your own feet through drawing, to alienate and stage them and to look at them sensually as an organ of perception and medium. What cultural imprints influence our thoughts and feelings about this often overlooked body part? How does the experience change when we focus on its sensory and creative possibilities? And what impulses and questions do the works shown in the exhibition open up?

What can you expect? After a short, soothing cleansing, you will get to know your feet as artistic tools. This will result in an individual foot portrait that you can take home with you.

Jeanne Schmidt is a freelance art educator. She studied art in context at the UdK Berlin and extracurricular art education in Leipzig and Leeds. At Labor M, the art education department of the municipal gallery Schloss Biesdorf, she designs and leads dialogical guided tours, workshops for school classes and open workshops. In the art education collective Reiz und Rotz, she organizes workshops on self-assertion and strengthening self-confidence for girls* in rural areas.
