Concerts, Music & Pub Concerts, Live Music and Musicals in Hamburg

Hamburg and music? It's not a coincidental combination, it's a love story with decades of history. The city where the Beatles wore out their first stage boards before the rest of the world knew who they were has lost none of its reputation as a music metropolis to this day. On the contrary: anyone looking for live concerts here has the pleasant problem of being spoiled for choice. From intimate singer-songwriter evenings to rock concerts that shake the walls, from classical music guaranteed to give you goosebumps to jazz that feels like a long evening with old friends. The calendar of events in this city simply never sleeps. At Knust in St. Pauli, formerly a slaughterhouse and now one of the coolest concert venues in the city, you can get indie, alternative and punk in an atmosphere that still feels like real subculture, not event marketing. Just around the corner, in the legendary Molotow on the Reeperbahn, artists like The Black Keys and The Killers played before they filled stadiums. This is no coincidence, this is Hamburg music history in real time. If you like it a little bigger, the Markthalle has been the place to be since 1977: over 10,000 events in almost 50 years speak for themselves. Here, local bands perform alongside established acts, and that's what makes it so appealing. For the absolute premium experience, there is no way around the Elbphilharmonie. Yes, it is well-known. Yes, it is touristy. But when you sit in this concert hall for the first time and the acoustics hit you, you'll immediately understand why everyone is talking about it. Equally impressive and slightly less in the limelight is the Laeiszhalle on Johannes-Brahms-Platz, a neo-baroque cultural monument that is one of the best philharmonic concert halls in Europe. Smaller, more intimate and with a magic all of its own is the Nochtspeicher on the Kiez, where you can experience concerts under historic wooden beams that feel like you have them all to yourself. The Mojo at Reeperbahn 1 goes deep underground, literally, because the jazz club is underground, has hardly any cell phone reception, but all the more soul and groove. And if you want to make the most of summer in Hamburg, you should keep an eye on the Stadtpark: Open-air concerts have been taking place here since 1914, between the trees and under the open Hamburg sky, and the lineup ranges from indie to folk to greats from pop history. In our event calendar you can find all the current concerts and music events in Hamburg, whether you already know who you want to see or just want to see what the city has to offer. Because to be honest, sometimes the best concert nights are the ones where you've never heard of the band before.
