The fbs

The fbs Protestant Family Education Centre is a recognized further education institution in accordance with the 1st NRW Further Education Act. We plan approx. 13,000 teaching hours per year. The fbs is run by the association "Familienbildung im Evangelischen Kirchenverband Köln und Region e.V."

11 full-time and approx. 160 freelance staff are employed by fbs. They work to provide a lively and contemporary range of programs to support families in different phases of life with a variety of topics and formats.

Our head office is located in the heart of Südstadt, at Sachsenring 2-4, just a few minutes' walk from Chlodwigplatz, Volksgarten and the banks of the Rhine. This not only offers good accessibility, but also many opportunities to make the most of the time before or after your course visit: Do your shopping on Severinstraße, have a coffee on Chlodwigplatz or take a stroll along the Rhine.

We are also easy to reach by public transport, as we are located right in the middle between the Chlodwigplatz, Ulrepforte and Kartäuserhof stops.

Our Südstadt courses take place not only at our headquarters, but also in the immediate vicinity at the Haus der Evangelischen Kirche, Kartäusergasse 9-11 (approx. 300m away). This is where we run our cooking, sewing and most of our exercise classes. There are only a limited number of parking spaces available here (you can obtain a parking permit from your course leader), so we recommend arriving by public transport, bicycle or on foot.
