HAU Hebbel am Ufer with its three houses HAU1, HAU2 and HAU3 and the digital stage HAU4 stands for current artistic positions at the interface of theater, dance and performance. Music, visual arts and theory are also integral parts of the diverse program. Since 2012, under the direction of Annemie Vanackere and her team, HAU has been the most important anchor institution for Berlin's independent scene and one of the highest-profile international production houses. In this function, HAU is a founding member of the Alliance of International Production Houses, an association of the seven most important institutions for the independent performing arts in Germany. Co-productions and guest performances by renowned artists and groups from all over the world as well as projects from the German and local independent theater and dance scene are produced and shown here. HAU takes over the production and touring management for selected artists. HAU stands for formats, themes and content that often attract attention far beyond Berlin and provide impulses for other areas such as science, politics and civil society. Festivals and thematic focuses are just as much a part of the program as the Houseclub, where artists, young people and schoolchildren regularly work together. HAU to connect creates a variety of connections with artist talks, introductions for groups and cooperation projects. With "Tanz im August" , HAU Hebbel am Ufer also organizes one of the most renowned dance festivals in Europe every year.
