Wassersportmuseum Grünau

Water sports belong to Grünau like the television tower belongs to Berlin-Mitte. Water sports have been practiced on the Dahme and the Lange See since the 19th century, even though its importance, the society and the regatta grounds have changed time and again. Young men, mainly of middle-class origin, discovered rowing for themselves at the end of the 19th century. The first rowing clubs were founded, boathouses were built along the Dahme and competitions were held. In 1928, Grünau was the only regatta area in Germany to have six starting lanes in a natural body of water. Rowing became Grünau's trademark. The exhibition shows how boating techniques, the physical skills required for water sports and water sports clubs developed over the decades. It tells the story of the Grünau regatta course as a sports venue and excursion destination in the German Empire, during National Socialism, in the GDR and today.

The permanent exhibition "Wasser Sport Grünau" can be seen in the historic regatta grandstand.

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday: from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Closed on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday.
