The theater forecourt and the Kulturarena are inseparable, of course. But how tempting is it to be able to create special attractions with unusual venues from time to time? Extremely tempting! So a long-cherished dream becomes reality: an evening in the world's longest-serving large planetarium! Rocket Men are coming to the Jena Planetarium and before we take off with them, let's make a small digression:

It is a great honor that this precious place will become the outdoor venue of the Kulturarena in 2026 of all years: the planetarium is celebrating its reopening this summer after a renovation phase, and its 100th anniversary to boot! The concert announced here will be the first to take place after the renovation and with the latest technology. A place with so much heart and history! How this historic landmark of engineering architecture came to be in Jena in the first place is worth another digression. Be sure to find out!

And now we are ready to ignite the rocket: With impressive visuals developed especially for the planetarium, the 800m² dome is brought to life by the five musicians from Rocket Men. Their show "Lost in Space" combines light, sound and movement to create an intergalactic experience - daring, energetic and full of unexpected twists and turns.

The band combines the best of jazz, pop and electronic club culture to create a rousing fusion that they confidently call "Drum and Space". Here, cinematic synthesizer pads meet pulsating drum grooves, while trumpet and saxophone shoot through orbit with glowing melody lines. The sound: simultaneously playful and precise, powerful and atmospheric, improvised and structured. With precisely these contrasts, the audience is carried through nebulae of sound, rhythmic meteor showers and luminous harmonies.

The project is backed by Philipp Püschel, Lasse Golz, Valentin Mühlberger, Paul David Heckhausen and Felix Dehmel - five musicians who are exploring the universe of sound with boundless enthusiasm. We are ready and are already looking forward to the evening with great anticipation!
