Kaffeekonzert № 4 »Ach, du liebe Zeit!«

Have you looked at your watch today? At the 4th Coffee Concert, everything revolves around the most precious commodity that we supposedly never have. Thomas Wicklein leads with charm and humour through a program that sets the pace: Right at the beginning, the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra sets the tempo with Johann Strauss' lively "Tik-Tak Polka", followed by the light-footed Allegretto scherzando from Beethoven's 8th Symphony. Léo Delibes' "Waltz of the Hours" and "Czárdás" from the ballet music "Coppelia" combine meter and temperament, before Amilcare Ponchielli's "Dance of the Hours" celebrates the elegance of the moment. The Andante from Haydn's "Clock" Symphony and Leroy Anderson's "Syncopated Clock" also make you feel the pulse of the times, Chopin's "Minute Waltz" once again takes longer, and Eduard Strauss' "Außer Rand und Band" drives the furious finale. One thing is certain: with this music, time is guaranteed to pass far too quickly! /JN
