The fascination for timeless baroque music will bring music lovers to Dresden's Kreuzkirche on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 17:00. Under the direction of Wilfried Scheel, you can expect a vesper full of spiritual depth that combines masterful baroque music with works from the Romantic and modern eras.
The focus will be on Johann Sebastian Bach, whose cantata "Du Hirte Israel, höre" (BWV 104) will be performed by the Mitteldeutscher Motettenchor, the Sinfonietta Dresden and soloists Stephan Scherpe (tenor) and Daniel Blumenschein (bass). The program will be complemented by Bach's Trio Sonata in E minor, performed by Anton Matthes on the organ. In addition to this supporting baroque music, double choir works by Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Stanford and Fährmann set festive accents. Josu Elberdin's "Cantate Domino" will bridge the gap to the present day. Experience an hour of contemplation and sonic splendor in the special atmosphere of the Kreuzkirche.
