Mozart wrote his Sinfonia concertante for violin and viola in the summer of 1779 in his native city of Salzburg. The reason for this is not known. But perhaps Mozart was thinking of a musical conversation with his father Leopold, who had taught him to play the violin with virtuosity, when he wrote the solo parts. In any case, the result could not have been more wonderful. It almost seems as if the violin and viola merge into one instrument. Two internationally acclaimed experts, violinist Evgeny Sviridov and violist Corinna Golomoz, now turn their attention to this piece. They will be accompanied by the Compagnia di Punto, which will open the evening with Haydn's "Fire Symphony" and round it off with Schubert's 5th Symphony - with which Schubert wanted to pay homage to the "immortal Mozart".
