The harpsichordist and pianist Andreas Staier has long been one of the outstanding virtuosos on the fortepiano. And it is not only with his extraordinarily cantabile playing that he has set standards, particularly in the works of the Viennese Classical period. Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven are now also on the program. Between sonatas and works such as the six Beethoven "Bagatelles" op. 126, Staier will play pieces by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. His music was admired by all three Viennese classical composers - although Haydn and Mozart in particular felt like his pupils from afar. Andreas Staier has demonstrated how well he can understand this fascination in many award-winning recordings.
