Udo Schindler and Andreas Willers are internationally recognized musicians of free, improvised, experimental music. They work closely together, play very intuitively and consciously take risks to create style-free musical adventures.

They have been playing together in this constellation since 2013. At that time, they performed at the "34th Salon for Sound and Art" and at the Signalraum in Munich. In 2014, the label Pilgrims of Sound released the CD "Ordnung & Widrigkeiten". The concert "STORM WITHOUT WIND", recorded on 24.06.2022 at MUCCA/BASIS_Klangraum in Munich, is available as a download on Bandcamp and as a video on YouTube.

Schindler's duo projects are often expanded into trios. In 2023, for example, the trio Cassiber Complex was formed with drummer Eric Zwang Eriksson. The joint concert was released under the title "Cassiber Complex - Unconditioned Sound in a Box" (FMR CD688-0524). Critics describe the music as an organic stream of exciting sounds that unfolds in changing moods for almost an hour.

Schindler and Zwang Eriksson have also released several duo and trio recordings on the British label FMR, including "POETRY??? A Throw of the Dice", "Blow & Swirl" and "Canto Senza Parole_Allegria". The music is characterized by a wide dynamic range from very quiet to highly energetic passages. Extended playing techniques, multiple sounds, noises and microtonality are used to open up new sound spaces.

The combination of wind instruments and percussion allows great freedom in rhythm and sound design. Wind instruments sometimes also take on rhythmic tasks, while the percussion is often used in a two-dimensional and sound-oriented manner. This creates an equal trio situation with a shared, independent collective sound. The music is genre-free, lives strongly from the live moment and needs places where this kind of improvised sound art is possible.

The duo concert by Schindler & Willers on May 13, 2025 was released on FMR under the title "Analytical Pre-Summer Retreat". Among other things, Schindler plays a Tubax in E flat, a special instrument by Munich instrument maker Benedikt Eppelsheim, to whom the concert is dedicated.

Andreas Willers is one of the most distinctive electric guitarists in Germany and Europe. He studied electric guitar and composition in Los Angeles, Hamburg and Banff and now lives in Berlin. Since his debut in 1981 on the FMP label, he has worked with numerous important musicians from jazz and improvised music and is represented on over 50 albums under his own name. Critics emphasize his broad stylistic background, his sense of form and his powerful, often blues-grounded sound.

Critics write about Udo Schindler that he is an under-appreciated master of wind instruments who develops a new "language" for his instruments in real time. His idiosyncratic, spectrally and microtonally oriented style unfolds particularly in duos and live situations. He often uses duo formations with changing partners to explore subtle tonal interactions that break away from traditional notions of melody and harmony.

For all three musicians, the duo format is a preferred framework for venturing into new sound adventures without prior agreement. The music emerges from the moment, borne by listening experience, sensitivity and the willingness to take risks.
