What else is there to celebrate in a world characterized by conflict, uncertainty and collective mourning? Indeed, throughout history, even in the darkest of times, humanity has sought refuge in ritual, dance and celebration - often as a form of resistance and renewal. Chapters of Celebration is an energetic performance that pays tribute to the celebrating body.

The musical leitmotif is "La Folia", a musical theme from 15th century Iberia that pulsates like a heartbeat through the history of classical music. The composer and pianist Wouter Deltour combines the various compositions into a dazzling whole. Director Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe invites six renowned choreographers to stage the celebrating body in "chapters" that combine opposites such as baroque dance and ballroom or jazz and rave. Like archaeologists of festivities, together with six singing dancers they search for an original freedom of human community.

A powerful reminder of the universal need to celebrate. So that we don't forget to dance. On and on. Despite everything.

The Orangery is wheelchair accessible via separate access on the north side of the building, please allow some time and ask the staff on site. Tickets for wheelchair-accessible seating and accompaniment are available at the HAZ & NP advance booking offices.
