Satirical comedy by Friedrich Dürrenmatt / Low German by Heino Buerhoop / adapted for the Low German stage Waterkant by Martin Kemner

The physicist Möbius retires to a luxurious sanatorium because his discoveries could mean the destruction of the world. There are also two men there who think they are Einstein and Newton, but are in fact spies from the West and the East. They want to use Möbius' knowledge for their own purposes. But Möbius convinces them to stay in the sanatorium as alleged madmen in order to protect the world.
Their plan fails, however, because the head of the sanatorium, Dr. von Zahnd, uses Möbius' discoveries for an industrial corporation. The three remain locked up, their sacrifice was in vain, and the world falls into the hands of a mad doctor.
In De Physikers, Dürrenmatt brings us closer to the responsibility of science in an extremely entertaining way.

The physicist Möbius has taken refuge in a "luxurious" sanatorium because what he has discovered could mean that the whole world could go to pieces. There are also two men who are doing their bit for Einstein and Newton, but in reality are spies from the West and the East. They want to use Möbius' knowledge for their own purposes.
However, Möbius decides to stay in the sanatorium as a supposed madman in order to save the world.
This plan doesn't work out because the director of the sanatorium, Dr. von Zahnd, needs Möbius' discoveries for an industrial company. The three of them remain in suspense, their victims have been lost, and the world falls into the hands of a mad doctor.
In De Physiker, Dürrenmatt shows us the responsibility of science in a particularly unusual way.
