In German sign language with simultaneous translation into spoken language

The award-winning intimate play by Yasmina Reza is being staged by DIE VISIONÄRE e.V. for the first time in German sign language and with simultaneous translation. A clash between two opposing sets of parents that quickly develops into a bedroom battle.

The God of Carnage begins with what is actually a minor incident: two children quarrel and one of them is injured. The parents then meet in an apartment to resolve the matter calmly and sensibly. At least that's the plan. But the good mood doesn't last long. The polite conversation quickly turns into an exchange of blows. Accusations fly, old conflicts break out and the adults increasingly behave like children themselves. The fronts are constantly changing, alliances form and disintegrate, and no one is really in control.

With plenty of black humour, the play shows how quickly civilized behaviour can tip over - and how thin the line between reason and escalation really is. In the end, there are no winners.
