Dan Lehman - voted out of office as French president - is depressed and addicted to alcohol. His wife, on the other hand, is celebrating a spectacular career high as an actress, which doesn't exactly lift the ex-politician's spirits. In "Die Liebeshungrigen" (dtv // German by Maja Ueberle-Pfaff & Alexandra Baisch), French star author Karine Tuil ("Diese eine Entscheidung", et al.) masterfully deals with contemporary history. She sheds light on destructive power structures, looks behind the façade of glamorous elite Paris and writes intelligently and captivatingly about love.
