Einsteins Piano: Benedikt Jahnel

This concert takes place at Einstein Kultur! In the Einstein Piano series, a man with a doctorate in mathematics takes his place at the piano. Is that noticeable in his music? Perhaps here and there. However, Benedikt Jahnel does not use formulas or calculations when he plays. He follows his intuition, which tells him exactly how to maintain a balance between composed and improvised parts. His intuition also ensures the perfect blend of timbres, the optimum dose of poetry and strong arcs of tension.

Benedikt Jahnel achieved international fame as the pianist of the cult quartet max.bab. He has also made a significant contribution to the sound of the Cyminology formation, maintained his own magnificent trio, founded the Kaktus 6tett and ran a double quartet with saxophonist Peter Ehwald. Benedikt Jahnel's rich musical vita is evident in his solo playing: it is as colorful as his artistic existence.
