Bats are fascinating animals that immediately cast a spell over many people.
In the first, theoretical part of the workshop, you will gain an insight into the amazing biodiversity of bats. Examples of particularly exciting or bizarre behaviors and adaptations will be presented, such as the distinctive social behavior of vampire bats and much more. Participants benefit from anecdotes and research results from the lecturers and have the rare opportunity to experience the latest research up close with an experienced scientist.
With our newly acquired knowledge, we set off at sunset in search of bats in the Spreepark. We will learn about modern methods of bat detection, in particular the use of echo-acoustic detectors. Together we will explore different areas of the park where different species can be expected and experience the nocturnal flyers up close.
