In a dialogical tour, art historian and ancient Americanist Carolina Pretell and cultural scientist Romina Tello invite you to focus on female perspectives in exhibits from the collections of America, Oceania, Africa and Asia in the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art:

Throughout human history, women have been understood in different cultures as bearers of relationship, knowledge and vitality. As goddesses, priestesses, healers and midwives - as guardians of life - they shape the social, religious and political fabric of their communities.

How are these ideas reflected in our cultural heritage? And how was the female body interpreted as a source of life, power and transformation?

The exhibitions offer impressive examples of female creative power and its forms of expression in different times and cultures, and the mediators will guide you to them.

Participants

Romina Tello Astudillo de Beer was born in Huancayo, Peru. As a cultural scientist and ethnologist, she is interested in the cultural and social constellations of the ancient Andean world. Her academic work focuses on decolonization processes in Latin American regions and research into the origins of pre-Columbian cultural assets. Since 2021, she has been working in the field of linguistic and cultural mediation in the field of social integration. She currently works as a freelance mediator for the Ethnological Museum at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin.

Carolina Pretell, born and raised in Argentina, studied Fine Arts in Argentina as well as Art History and Classical Studies in Berlin. She works as a freelance mediator for the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art in the Humboldt Forum in Berlin.
