"As you know, I quickly get into a very private conversation in the hairdressing salon. There are few services where the person providing the service is expected to talk so much. I don't just go there to have my hair cut - especially as I hardly have any left - no, I also want to be entertained. And I know that hairdressers know how to do this. Over the years, they have developed the ability to contribute to any topic, to talk about anything and everything - about everyday pleasures, beauty and vanity as well as the crises of the present. Just as during the Thirty Years' War, when Baroque lyricists sang about the finite nature of prosperity, happiness and life, today we are increasingly talking about our transience - in other words, about God and the world. And my hair often stands on end."
