JASMINE MYRA

With her third album, British composer and bandleader Jasmine Myra confidently enters a new artistic phase. Where Light Settles marks a clear evolution from its acclaimed predecessors Horizons (2022) and Rising (2024).

The nine compositions revolve around duality, growth and hope: pain is unavoidable, says Myra, but that is precisely where development lies. The album was recorded live in the studio in Leeds to capture the collective energy of her long-standing ensemble. Conductor Ozzy Moysey led the 15-piece ensemble, allowing Myra to concentrate fully on her sensitive alto saxophone playing.

She produced the album herself for the first time, assisted by Matthew Halsall. Her cinematic sound is influenced by film music - for example by Dustin O'Halloran and Hans Zimmer - as well as by her experiences of nature in Wales and northern England.

The work combines jazz, folk and orchestral colors to create a warm, autumnal soundscape. The title symbolizes hope - and the strength to emerge stronger from opposites.
