Partitur is the first international exhibition dedicated to the Danish composer and sound artist Else Marie Pade (* 1924 - † 2016, DK). Pade was a pioneer of musique concrète and European electronic music. For several decades, Pade considered sound as a visual medium of intensities, diversity and dissonance. Her compositions take listeners through fairy tales, cityscapes and nightmares, with scores that capture the notation, process and cacophonous narrative spaces of life.
Based on Spade's pioneering musical arrangements and works on paper, Partitur traces the composer's artistic development from the 1950s onwards. The exhibition unfolds as an immersive listening environment based on the spatial structures of her scores and her newly conceived language for electronic composition. The exhibition is accompanied by a live program that takes up and continues Pade's legacy. It presents Berlin-based sound artists as well as contributions on music, collectivity and the legacy of female artists in electronic music.
