It is said that all social progress had to be fought for by courageous people - but how did they succeed? Can the huge global crises of the present still be overcome at all?

Driven by questions, doubts and visions, the film wanders through wild worlds of images, through the promises of happiness of modernity, freezes in the face of overpowering enemies, experiences resistance, failure and new beginnings. And we begin to understand - thanks to the inspiring stories of five people who were involved in overwhelming social upheavals.

Together with the authors of the film and the audience, they struggle to find answers. Tracing the point at which people begin to struggle. The point at which the decision is made to leave normality and security behind in order to try something completely new.
