A London fashion photographer believes he has accidentally photographed a murder. However, the enlargement of the pictures does not confirm his suspicions, but instead increasingly calls his own reality into question, which itself now appears to be a fragile construction. In Blow-Up, literary strategies based on the nouveau roman are combined with the expressive forms of international auteur cinema. Antonioni works with blank spaces, narrative suspension and unsettled subjectivity - strategies that correspond directly with Robbe-Grillet's and Duras' poetics.
