Why are feelings still a challenge for men?

We know them: Men who can't - or don't want to - show their feelings. When their emotions are visible, it is often as anger, joy and pride, but rarely as sadness, doubt or vulnerable love. Women and queers complain that they do the emotional work that men deny them, themselves and each other. But men also pay a high price for this: they suffer from social loneliness, superficial friendships and above-average suicide rates. Why does such a destructive system persist?

Brutally fragile types uncovers the complex and above all political intertwining of feelings and masculinities that still prevent us from being emotionally on an equal footing today.

OLE LIEBL, born in 1992 in a village in Rhineland-Palatinate, studied philosophy and computer science at the TU and FU Berlin. On TikTok and Instagram as well as in the podcast "Und hier noch die Quellen", Liebl explains various topics relating to sexuality, gender and relationships from a scientific perspective. After 14 years in Berlin, Liebl moved back to the Rhineland-Palatinate in 2024.
