SOUNDGARDEN Festival

In the organizer's words:

For the first time, we are organizing a mini-festival in the monastery garden of the Carthusian Church and presenting four young musicians. CARA from Cologne and the indie folk trio ANIMAT from Paderborn.

CARA

CARA's songs are like diary entries: Inspired by self-discovery, relationships, family, city life and music.
Unsparingly and poetically, CARA uses her special voice to tell soulful and unembellished stories about closeness, distance, love and loss. Cara is the alias of 23-year-old Cologne musician Cara Luisa Bäumer, which she uses as an outlet and mirror of her inner worlds.
On her debut EP, she processes her experience with a loved one suffering from alcoholism with the single "Weißweinen". The track "Verbind die Lider" captures the feeling of sleeplessness and nightmares with poetic images, while "Heiliger Abend" reflects on home and growing up.
"Wann und Wo" describes the desire to be with a loved one at all costs, and in "Dritte Chance", CARA again sheds light on the end of a relationship.
Finally, "Für Mama" is an intimate, almost disarmingly simple declaration of love to her mother. Each song is reduced to the essentials and moves between singer-songwriter vibes and modern pop aesthetics. the Cologne native achieved her first successes with placements in playlists such as POPLAND or fresh finds GSA.
The songs are created in collaboration with her writing partner and producer Noah Dröge, who has helped weave the common thread in the sound. The two are inseparable and allow influences from Schmyt, Paula Hartmann or Trettmann to shine through between their own notes - and still prove that CARA is unmistakably their own.

ANIMAT

"I guess I saw the world with eyes closed". This line from the title track of "Slowwalker", the debut EP by up-and-coming indie folk trio animat, addresses so many things: growing up, old closures, new hope. In addition, it almost seems as if the trio is explaining that the formation of the band has added something essential to the three musicians - in making music and in life in general.
Anna Meier, Tabea Niewerth, Milena Wagner - these are the names of the three animat members. Their polyphonic vocals make up the songs on "Slowwalker"; each musician has her own personal timbre, and in combination they create pure magic. This is what makes the "Slowwalker" EP so captivating. Listening to it makes you feel like part of the group and opens your eyes together with them. Great music should not draw attention to itself - or to the people who created it - but to the world around it. This is exactly what the title track to "Slowwalker" is about: moving forward with an open mind. And not just to hope, but to know that tomorrow is a new day. A good day.
