In her debut, Jelena Ilić focuses on her relationship with her father: after five years in a forensic psychiatric ward, his release is drawing ever closer. They are united by a passion for art, but both vacillate between love and fear of relapse. Ilić skillfully combines direct cinema with animation to create an empathetic film about the gift of forgiveness.

Jelena Ilić's debut An Illness Like a Poem, the latest production from Made in Germany, celebrates its premiere at the NRW festival. The positive effect of targeted support for FLINTA* filmmakers is also evident in the Shoot competition for up-and-coming filmmakers. The KHM and the IFFF Dortmund+Cologne are awarding this special prize for the seventh time.
