What it's all about

Cologne is a city of diversity, but this reality is still too rarely reflected in the programs and structures of many cultural institutions. We often talk about "our" audience, but actually know too little about the people who live here. This event addresses precisely this issue: With the help of compact statistics, Studio Audience provides a clear overall demographic picture of Cologne and makes the potential of the city's society visible. The aim is to close the gap between cultural offerings and the reality of life in Cologne.

Why you have to come in

This event is a must for all cultural workers and artists who design and mediate programs. After gaining a general overview of Cologne's urban society, we will look specifically at young people and young adults - a focus that is often invoked as a "future audience" but rarely asked for their own opinion. By talking directly to young people, we find out first-hand what barriers exist and what needs to change in order to win them over as active participants. Find out how the dialog with the so-called "non-visitors" succeeds and how cultural participation can be implemented in practice.

The event is organized by Studio Audience, a specialist department of ArtAsyl e. V. They advise cultural institutions on how to break down barriers and enable genuine participation. An event that does not provide ready-made recipes, but asks the right questions to open up the cultural sector to all Cologne residents.

Duration: approx. 60 minutes

The event room is barrier-free. The toilet is accessible at ground level, but not wheelchair accessible.

We can reserve wheelchair accessible seats for you.

People with a hearing aid can use the hearing system. The hearing system works via induction.
