Young Talents: Selah Quintett

The Selah Quintet around vocalist Anna Galtschenko opens up new sonic spaces between determined and free playing. With a concept inspired by contemporary jazz, using the voice as a pure instrument, they largely dispense with language as a means of communication and play with great sensitivity between improvisation and compositional structure.

She is accompanied by Alex Rosendahl (double bass), Max Hagen (piano) and Simon Kuhn (drums), who can be heard both in unison, composed lines and in solo playing. Vincent Pinn on trumpet and flugelhorn will be a guest, presenting a new world of sound together with vocalist Anna Galchenko. The Selah Quintet's repertoire combines original compositions by Anna Galtschenko with works by Kenny Wheeler, Carlos Aguirre and Andrés Beeuswaert. Inspired by musicians such as Richie Beirach, Norma Winstone, Maria João and Tatjana Parra, Anna Galtschenko combines the tonal aesthetics of ECM jazz with Latin American vocals. The music of the Selah Quartet invites you to pause for a moment - a subtle field of tension between intimacy, tonal freedom and expression, in which voice and instruments communicate at eye level.
