[DE] Was passiert, wenn vier Musiker:innen aufeinandertreffen, die noch nie zuvor zusammen gespielt haben? Vier Menschen aus unterschiedlichen gesellschaftlichen Realitäten.

In der PHRE Residency begegnen sich Sandy Chamoun und Anthony Sayhoun (Libanon), Dumama (Südafrika) und Simon Popp (München): vier künstlerische Positionen zwischen Komposition, Poesie, Klangkunst, Performance, Jazzschlagzeug, Loopmaschinen und elektronischen Effekten.

Geprägt von den aktuellen Krisen im Libanon bis zu postkolonialen und diasporischen Perspektiven in Südafrika bringen sie ihre jeweiligen Hintergründe in einen gemeinsamen Arbeitsprozess ein.
Über mehrere Tage entsteht so aus Improvisation, Zuhören und Austausch ein kollektiver Klang. Die Aufführung wird zur Momentaufnahme dieses Aufeinandertreffens: roh, unmittelbar und nicht wiederholbar.

[EN] What happens when four musicians who have never played together before meet for the very first time? Four individuals coming from entirely different social realities.

In the PHRE Residency, Sandy Chamoun and Anthony Sahyoun (Lebanon), Dumama (South Africa), and Simon Popp (Munich) collide: four artistic positions spanning composition, poetry, sound art, performance, jazz drumming, loop stations, and electronic effects.

Influenced by the ongoing crises in Lebanon to post-colonial and diasporic perspectives in South Africa, they weave their unique backgrounds into a collaborative creative process. Over several days of improvisation, listening, and exchange, a collective sound emerges. The performance becomes a snapshot of this encounter: raw, immediate, and unrepeatable.

[DE] Zwischen Gitarren und elektronischen Klängen agiert das Trio als untrennbare kreative Einheit, die danach strebt, eine eigene Realitätsverzerrung zu entwickeln. Abseits von Genrekonventionen konzentrieren sich Carl Gari auf Ästhetik, Stimmungen und Spannungszustände und entwickeln Klang als physischen und psychologischen Raum.

[EN] Between guitars and electronic sounds, the trio operates as an inseparable creative unit, aiming to shape its own distortion of reality. Beyond genre conventions, Carl Gari focus on aesthetics, moods, and tension, developing sound as both a physical and psychological space.
