Die tonight, live forever – A Club Opera

In the organizer's words:

It is an entry into a state of intoxication. The game of identities begins in the foyer - make-up, glitter, sunglasses. Those who enter here become part of a night that is not a night, an opera that dances, staggers and sweats. This club opera transforms the hall into a vibrating biotope of bass, voices and bodies. No rows of seats, no classical audience: whoever is there is right in the middle of it.

Three fates shine in the strobe light: a young woman who plunges into her own flood of thoughts after a therapy session; a broker who loses his sense of proportion in a chemsex frenzy; an exhausted woman who loses control of herself and her body - until nothing remains but the system's circling tiredness. The award-winning Israeli author Sivan Ben Yishai portrays these characters as feverish children of late capitalism, driven by self-entitlement, desire and a desire to crash. The three composers Benjamin Scheuer, Oxana Omelchuk and Michael Beil weave beats, soundscapes and instrumental islands into a breathless pulse - between club and chamber, ecstasy and collapse.

A Club Opera is the first collaboration between the KunstFestSpiele and the Treppenhausorchester, merging new music and club culture and inviting the audience to dance. And so this club opera glides over into a DJ set at the end of the evening: Identity, music and space blur. Losing yourself in order to briefly feel that you are there - dying today, living forever.
