Lecture with the political and legal scientist Max Pichl

The reform of the Common European Asylum System will come into force in 2026. The tightening of the system will not only affect the situation at the EU's external borders, but will also have a major impact on the German asylum system: the reception standards for unaccompanied minors are at risk, there is a threat of more detentions of people seeking protection, as well as new camp systems to speed up deportations. The lecture presents these developments and discusses options for a human rights-oriented refugee policy.

Max Pichl is a political scientist and legal scholar. He has been Professor of Social Work Law at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences since 2025.
