In the organizer's words:

How can cities and municipalities provide sustainable, flexible and humane accommodation for refugees - beyond emergency solutions such as containers and gymnasiums? This is precisely where the More than four walls project comes in.

An interdisciplinary team from the University of Hildesheim and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is developing and testing new accommodation concepts together with selected municipalities. In doing so, science, municipal practice and civil society involvement are bringing their perspectives together.

The aim is to develop practical solutions that not only respond to short-term challenges, but also remain resilient and adaptable in the long term - for example through communal living, structural conversion or new administrative processes. In this way, the pilot municipalities become real-life laboratories for innovation.

The aim is to develop sustainable structures that are geared towards real local conditions - and offer more than just a roof over your head in the long term.

Petra Bendel, professor specializing in flight, migration and integration at Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen, will present the "More than four walls" project -https://ma4w.de/- - together with her colleagues Sonja Reinhold and Yasemin Haferkamp.
