Film "Nelly und Nadine" - Talk "Lesben im Nationalsozialismus"

Film: Nelly and Nadine, Sweden 2022

It's Christmas in 1944 when Nelly and Nadine meet for the first time; both are prisoners in the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp. It is love at first sight.

After liberation, they go their separate ways in the turmoil of the post-war period. But they find each other again and stay together for the rest of their lives.

70 years after the end of the war, Nelly's granddaughter Sylvie opens a box containing her grandmother's legacy. In photographs, Super 8 and audio recordings and diary entries, the granddaughter discovers not only her grandmother's memories of the concentration camp, but also evidence of her life with Nadine.
Over a period of one year, the film accompanies the granddaughter on her careful search. A moving film about lesbian love and the necessity of personal and collective remembrance.

After the film, a talk with Ulrike Janz, a long-time researcher on "Lesbians under National Socialism", with a focus on concentration camps.
