The tour provides an insight into the collection and the day-to-day work of the North Africa, West and Central Asia Department. With a focus on Central Asia, the geographical area from which the majority of the collection originates, we take a look behind the scenes.

Curator Dr. Melanie Krebs will show selected rooms of the collection, where a large part of the scientific work takes place. The tour provides an insight into the large number of objects stored in the museum, but also allows us to take a closer look at individual objects - be it embroidery, metalwork or clothing from everyday life in Central Asia at the end of the 19th century. The curator will also explain how the objects can be handled today.
