"Mr. Biller's yellow hat hangs in the checkroom of the café in Prenzlauer Berg where my friend Mathieu works. I put it on when I've paid for my two cappuccinos and stroll through the neighborhood with a wicked smile on my face, as if I wanted to provoke people on the street."

Chance encounters that are decisive for quite a while or simply annoying. Travel acquaintances and their idiosyncrasies. Friendships that fall apart and reunions that don't go smoothly. Adrian Kasnitz's new stories are a strange hat that you put on to transform and provoke yourself. They take place in Cologne and Berlin, they take you to Leipzig and Prague, they take you to Albania, Latvia, London and Shenzhen. Sometimes you wish you hadn't worn the foreign hat.

Adrian Kasnitz, born on the Baltic Sea, grew up in the Westphalian mountains, studied in Cologne and Prague, and lives in Cologne as a writer, publisher and event organizer. In addition to the nine partial volumes Kalendarium #1 to #9 (parasitenpresse 2015-2024), his most recent publications include Im Sommer hatte ich eine Umarmung (parasitenpresse 2023) and Glückliche Niederlagen, the bilingual prose volume Pierre Huyghe hired me (parasitenpresse 2019) and the novel Bessermann. He has been awarded the Dieter Wellershoff Scholarship of the City of Cologne for his literary work. Since 2019, he has been curating the European Literature Festival Cologne-Kalk (ELK) as part of the team.
