Potsdamer Tanztage 2026 – LABOUR

In the organizer's words:

Five dancers move in close formation, facing the audience directly. They describe a large square along the walls, while their synchronized steps intensify with increasingly faster electronic beats. As they gradually accelerate, they take off layer after layer of clothing - visibility becomes a statement. In LABOUR, repetition becomes a political gesture: the endurance of the bodies refers to the invisible, permanent work that is socially attributed to women - physically, emotionally, structurally.

The piece is frontal and uncompromising and thrives on the enormous energy and expressiveness of the protagonists. Strength and vulnerability do not appear as opposites, but as interdependent realities of existence. The increasing rhythm creates urgency - as a response to systems that control bodies and curtail autonomy. Whether as resistance, protest or collective re-appropriation - LABOUR emphasizes the collective power that arises when women collectively demand space, visibility and agency.
