Stummfilm + Musik: ERDGIFT (1919)

Every last Saturday of the month, a silent film with musical accompaniment is shown in the Black Box at the Filmmuseum Düsseldorf.

In April, the film "Ergift" will be shown, an early adaptation of the play "Erdgeist" by Frank Wedekind. The film is about the sculptor Magnussen, who finds himself in a creative crisis. When he discovers the dancer Lil in a run-down variety theater, it is all over for him: He manically declares her his muse, leaves his wife and child and creates a universally admired statue. But Lil also has other admirers and knows how to use this skillfully and to her own advantage...

Wilfried Kaets (Cologne) accompanies the film on the historic Welte cinema organ.
