Theodor Storm

In the organizer's words:

Consciously or unconsciously, we encountered Storm at Christmas time when we were desperately looking for a suitable poem or we remember our school days and the "Schimmelreiter". Like Heine, Eichendorf and Mörike, he became part of the German vernacular. It is his poems that reflect direct experience, it is his numerous novellas that contain love, abandonment and disappointment or dramatic struggles with nature that are the focus of the evening. We visit him with his life story in the far north, in his native town of Husum. We also meet the political Theodor Storm, who was close to the Schleswig Holstein freedom fighters.
Barbara Kleyboldt and Rüdiger Trappmann will talk about his life and recite poems and prose from Immensee and Der Schimmelreiter.
