After fourteen years behind bars, Anker (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) is released from prison. The loot from his previous robbery has never turned up - only his brother Manfred (Mads Mikkelsen) knows where it was hidden. But in the meantime, Manfred's mental state has suffered greatly and his memories of the whereabouts of the money are blurred. Together, the dissimilar brothers embark on a search that becomes more than just a hunt for the loot. As they struggle through their past and old wounds, they are faced with an even more important question: who are they really - and can there be a new beginning for them?
