Norse sagas are a good example to illustrate the cultural rupture associated with the patriarchal narrative, which drove women out of their areas of competence, eliminated female authorities and devalued and destroyed their knowledge. In addition to patriarchal transmission mechanisms, the lecture by author and Viking researcher Barbara Fischer will focus on constructed gender images and gender fluidity in a social and cultural-historical context. Since the beginning of monotheistic Christianity, the patriarchal narrative has repeatedly cultivated the same field and, with the gender binary, has also installed the behavioral patterns and character attributions that suit it. At the Sunday matinee, the lecture will be accompanied by a reading sample of the Baumweltensaga "Freyja", the hermaphrodite deity of the Norse pantheon, lucky charm, warrior and primordial mother of all women.
The author's feminist fantasy series Baumweltensaga removes the patriarchal patina from the stories of her protagonists and places women, as they were and are, at the center of the action. Volume 2 "Freyja" is about a sports competition. The Nerthus Games are coming up. Freyja is the favorite to take part. But it's a long way to the coveted trophy. First she has to save the world and has an interesting experience in the process.
