an old lady became uncomfortable / made a mess of things / ruined her life / you wanted to banish her / now she's here / in jail.

An ageing woman looks back on a life of increasing isolation. At some point, she decides to take an unusual step: she commits crimes until she ends up in prison. Here she finds her own language; here she rejuvenates herself.

Alte Dame brings the self-empowerment of a woman who has already given up to the stage using minimalist means. An actress who is not artificially made up to look "old" stands in an almost empty, timeless and placeless space. The rhythmic-musical language is at the center of the production. By speaking, the old lady frees herself from the attribution of being a mere object and finds a new self in a tragicomic way.
