How do we dream in times of climate crisis, economic uncertainty, flight and displacement? How can we imagine a common life in the face of social segregation and digital filter bubbles? And how can confidence arise when futures remain uncertain?
As part of the EU project Viable Unknowns, inspired by Paulo Freire's idea of conceivable, as yet untested futures, two productions from Spain and Italy will come together on this evening: What kind of world are we leaving to our dogs? by the Spanish collective La Xixa and the play development Il bianco e la ferita (The White and the Wound) by the Italian group Cantieri Meticci.
With elements of forum theater, live music and mask play, both works open up a common space for a collective testing of the future. They deal with questions of migration, social inequality and social cohesion and invite the audience not only to imagine possible futures, but to actively act them out.
Both pieces will be shown one after the other with a short break and in the original (Spanish) with German subtitles and in German translation. This will be followed by a discussion with the artists, moderated by Dr. Matthias Sterba, theater scholar and lecturer at the University of Bayreuth.
