In the 18th century, it was good manners for the counts and princes of Westphalia to adorn themselves with great composers and ensembles. Valuable collections of sheet music also tell of this. The LA FONTE Baroque Orchestra, conducted by Fabrizio Ventura, has been reviving these since 2022. Among the most recent discoveries of the original sound ensemble are the symphonist Johann August Ludwig Fatken and the flute virtuoso Friedrich Hartmann Graf, who was not only a court musician at Burgsteinfurt Castle. Like his colleague Haydn, he was later to receive a doctorate at Oxford! The ensemble has therefore also chosen a work by Haydn for the finale with which he was celebrated in London one year after his academic ordination: the Sinfonia concertante, premiered in 1792.
