Comic-Lesung & Gespräch mit Bianca Schaalburg: „Emma und Amir - Im Schatten des Terrors“

An exciting political comic set between Berlin and Paris:

Amir, of German-Iraqi origin, is targeted by the police following an apparent Islamist attack in Berlin-Neukölln after his friend Yusuf, an investigative journalist, dies in the attack and is suspected of being the assassin. In order to prove his and Yusuf's innocence, he sets off with the Berlin woman Emma to Paris, Yusuf's last place of residence, where he was on the trail of an international right-wing populist conspiracy.

Bianca Schaalburg, born in Berlin in 1968, studied Visual Communication at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she drew cartoons and illustrated her first children's books. She works as a freelance illustrator for publishers, editorial offices and agencies and has been working almost exclusively on comic projects since 2018. Her political comic Emma and Amir was named Youth Book of the Month for January 2026 by the German Academy for Children's and Young Adult Literature.
