In the organizer's words:

Wild bees - highly endangered and indispensable!

Around 580 species of wild bees live in Germany. As pollinators, they ensure agricultural yields, especially in fruit and vegetable cultivation. They also maintain the diversity of wild flowers through their pollination work. However, the habitat for wild bees and other insects is becoming scarce. There is a lack of food and nesting opportunities.

The Berlin wild bee project "More bees for Berlin - Berlin blossoms" is an example of how public green spaces can be upgraded to make them pollinator-friendly and thus create urban habitats for wild bees and other insect species. Together with the city of Berlin, the German Wildlife Foundation is planting species-rich flower meadows, maintaining areas in a near-natural way and creating nesting habitats for them.

Our visitors can also explore the wild bee meadow and the new insect hotel on the Seewiese in front of the Humboldt Library!

In cooperation with the German Wildlife Foundation. Supported by the Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection.

The exhibition can be visited during the opening hours of the Humboldt Library: Mon - Fri 11am - 7pm and Sat 11am- 4pm.
