In the conservative southwest of Germany, four people face an elementary challenge to find their way to a happier life. In the process, everything changes for them: their names, their gender, their unique lives.
At one point in their lives, they knew with every fiber of their bodies that things could not go on like this and that a major change in their lives was necessary. Otherwise there would be no way out of the chaos of their feelings and no hope for a happier future.
Their names are Gabriel, Elisabeth, Melina and Dunja and they live in the south of western Germany. Before, they had a different name, a different life and a different gender. They tried in vain to have a conventional marriage or dreamed of becoming deacons in the church. Now they work in a metal factory, paddle on Lake Constance or lift weights in a gym.
The world they live in is characterized by conservative ideas. People often meet them with shyness, incomprehension and aversion, but also with curiosity and friendliness. On their path to a new self, they finally find what they had hoped for, fought for and suffered for: Moments of happiness, love and harmony with themselves.
