LAKE [sandbox]

LAKE is a listening-oriented, live audiovisual format based on collective creation, presence and shared authorship. Conceived as a temporary ecosystem, LAKE invites the audience into a space where music, sound, visuals and bodies coexist in real time - and where the experience only fully unfolds when you are physically present.

At the heart of LAKE is horizontal collaboration: audio and visual artists work as equals and improvise within a shared framework. There is no hierarchy between sound and image, no separation between "performer" and "context". Everything is created live - electronics, voices, instruments, textures, rhythms and visuals - shaped by deep and physical listening.

LAKE relies on human-led creation: no AI, no automated authorship. Instead, the format proposes a model of shared responsibility, collective risk and mutual trust. Authorship is distributed and the work exists as a moment rather than a product.

The project also reflects critically on platform dominance and media hegemony. While parts of LAKE are accessible remotely via Gatekeeper Radio, the stream deliberately cannot replace the physical experience. You can listen - but the space is missing. Presence counts.

LAKE [sandbox] is the first edition of LAKE. The format sees itself as an open space for testing ideas and exploring collective listening in live electronics and audiovisual performance.

The term "sandbox" comes from computer science and refers to an environment in which systems can be freely tested and tried out. In this edition, the participating artists share the same space and develop the session together in real time. Through attentive listening, they shape sound, voice, electronics and image together.
