Martyna Basta
Martyna Basta is a Polish composer, producer and singer-songwriter whose work is situated at the intersection of art-pop, chamber folk and electro-acoustic composition. Initially trained in classical guitar, she turned against the strictures of the classical music business and shifted her practice towards electronics. Using processed field recordings and instrumental samples, she develops a kind of sonic diary.

Her music combines haunting vocals and haunting songwriting with granular electronics to create an intimate soundscape. The diary-like quality is at the heart of her work and addresses themes such as vulnerability, memory and longing. Based on heavily edited recordings of her own playing on zither, harpsichord, guitar and more, she creates a tactile formal language that is fragile, precise and deeply personal - influenced by the emotional intensity of shoegaze as well as the ornamentation of baroque music.

With performances at CTM, Unsound and Cafe OTO as well as international recognition from Pitchfork, Dazed, The Wire and curator Margeaux Labat, she has established herself as a distinctive voice that combines pop-like emotionality with a finely differentiated sound language. Collaboration with other artists forms a central part of her practice: for her new album she worked with james K, LEYA, Rainy Miller and Felisha Ledesma, following previous collaborations with claire rousay, Pavel Milyakov and Jonathan Bepler.

Ange Halliwell
Ange Halliwell began playing the harp at the age of 12. Growing up in the lush countryside of southwest France, he composes music that brings together hypnotic arpeggios, multi-layered soundscapes and voices - sung, spoken or shouted.

His works are closely linked to nature and draw on a broad spectrum of influences from traditional music, poetry and horror. This results in an independent artistic language in which sonic, visual and atmospheric levels are combined.

Ange Halliwell thus creates a musical and visual universe that is both luminous and melancholy in equal measure.
